Donation tax credits for 2024 expire tomorrow. Don't delay!

It’s been a tough year for progressives worldwide. There’s no sugarcoating it. From the election of Donald Trump to the chaos in Ottawa, it’s hard to know if we’re making a difference.

I want to tell you. You are.

Everyday, I talk to people who want something better. Who believe the system is rigged and are fighting to make life better for everyone, not just themselves. Who believe in community. That we’re truly all in this together.

Inflation is ravaging family finances. Electricity bills are far higher than when the UCP took power in 2019. Public education is failing so many of our kids. So many Albertans don’t have family doctors, can’t get hip and knee replacements in a timely fashion, can’t see an oncologist in the critical early period after cancer is detected.

For all of these serious challenges our friends and neighbours are facing, a New Democrat government led by Naheed Nenshi offers better solutions than a Smith government that’s making life so much worse for so many of us.

But we have to get the word out. That’s what your donations are for. The media environment is not what it used to be. Newspapers, radio, and TV news have been hollowed out by the rise of social media. Telling our story from opposition is harder than it’s ever been. These aren’t excuses: this is reality.

That’s why I’ve been appealing to you to donate to the Alberta NDP. To help tell the story, to let people know that a Nenshi-led government will be there for them. That we care. That our values are Albertan’s values.

And that’s why I’m so grateful to the many of you who have donated to the party, and over the last year showed up at events, called me (even the angry calls!), and knocked on doors. As we look into 2025, I’m so grateful that we’re on the same team.

You’re making a difference. You matter. And I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together in 2025. Have a great New Year!
