In just one week, it’s the Calgary-Elbow Alberta NDP annual general meeting.
There is no better time, than Wednesday, April 23, to meet, and perhaps even be part of, the team committed to winning the next election.
Together, we must work hard over the next two-and-a-half years to ensure we form government in 2027.
We need your help to build a better future for all Albertans.
So, whether you’ve been an Alberta NDP member for decades or you are brand new to our movement, now is the time for all hands on deck.
And, of course, there will be an opportunity for you to financially contribute to our goal of winning government in 2027 and making a better Alberta possible.
This meeting is for Alberta NDP members only. You can renew or sign up for your membership here.
We want health care that is there for all Albertans, when and where we need it. Our children deserve schools that teach them to thrive. And we want a prosperous future for our province. If you feel the same way, come to the AGM on Wednesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Windsor Park Community Association, 5304 6 St SW.
Please RSVP if you are planning to attend. I hope to see you there!

CorruptCare scandal deepens
On Monday, Peter Guthrie, the UPC MLA for Airdrie-Cochrane, broke from his party’s ranks and joined our call for a public inquiry into the CorruptCare scandal.
The former infrastructure minister was suspended by the UCP caucus in February after calling for Health Minister Adriana Lagrange to be moved to a different position until investigations in the CorruptCare scandal are complete.
On Monday, he rose in the legislature to table two newspaper articles related to the CorruptCare scandal citing that the authors state, “the only way to achieve full transparency is through a judicial public inquiry . . . ensuring Albertans receive the truth.”
Later in the session, Guthrie voted with us on a motion tabled by Sarah Hoffman, our Shadow Minister for Health, calling for a public inquiry into the allegations of corruption in multimillion-dollar sweetheart deal health contracts.
Former UCP caucus member Scott Sinclair, who now sits as an Independent member for Lesser Slave Lake after the UCP kicked him out of caucus for threatening to vote against the government’s budget, also supported Sarah’s motion.
The UCP defeated the motion.
Guthrie later told the media, “If we have nothing to hide, we should take that path."
Today, Guthrie was kicked out of the UCP caucus. So far, only those who have spoken out against the scandal have been fired. It’s time for the Health Minister to be removed from her position, to allow a proper public inquiry without political interference.
Alberta premier not standing up for Canada
Danielle Smith was in Ottawa last week but it wasn’t to meet with “Team Canada.”
She was there to speak at the organization formerly known as the Manning Centre alongside former U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer, who is a supporter of Donald Trump’s tariffs.
From her recent appearance on the American far-right outlet Breitbart, to her disgraceful, taxpayer-funded fundraising visit in Florida with far-right extremist Ben Shapiro… Smith is more focused on pursuing her own self-interests than putting Albertans and Canadians first.
Smith panders to her extremist base instead of focusing on what matters to most Albertans as she continues to undermine Canada’s sovereignty. She puts her pro-Trump, self-serving agenda ahead of the people she was elected to represent.
Albertans deserve a premier that is focused on presenting a united front with the rest of Canada as we navigate through the challenges presented by the Trump administration.
It’s possible to be a strong Albertan and a proud Canadian: it’s not an either/or choice. Other premiers, such as Doug Ford in Ontario, represent their provinces well and stand for Canada. It’s time for Premier Smith to do the same.
